y>_ /join #lobby
IRC soul.
Unix roots.
Matrix inside.
ytalk-ng is a native Matrix client for iPhone, iPad and Mac in the style of irssi and ytalk: numbered windows, a status bar with activity, slash commands and monospace on dark terminal green. Underneath it is Matrix – decentralised, open and end-to-end encrypted.

Windows like irssi
1:status, 2:#lobby … – switch with a tap, /window 3, ⌘1–⌘9 or ⌥⌘←/→. The status bar shows activity and mentions: [Act: 2,3,5!]
End-to-end encrypted
Encrypted direct messages and rooms, key backup with recovery key, device verification.
Slash commands
/join, /msg, /me, /whois, /topic, /find and more – with help, a filter and an honest note on what each command does on the server.
Your homeserver
Works with any Matrix homeserver that offers Sliding Sync. Sign in with OAuth or a password.
Push without content
Optional. Apple and the push gateway only see IDs, never messages or names – decryption happens on the device.
No tracking
No analytics, no ads, no telemetry. The app only talks to your homeserver.
